Profiteers who attempted to sell WTC merch at massive markups on eBay after 9.11 were eventually shut down by eBay itself, but while eBay deliberated over whether it would take down the auctions in question, a posse of eBay users created false IDs en masse, entered false winning bids on the items and disappeared, making it impossible to sell anything WTC-related on eBay.
